Dominvs group in Action ends 2020 by pledging our support to CarePack UK, a London homelessness charity that provides kits of clothes, sleeping matts and sleeping bags to rough sleepers over the festive period.

Dominvs group has pledged to fund 100 “survival packs” through its charitable arm Dominvs group In Action, which CarePack UK will distribute across in homeless hotspots across the capital to support hundreds of people experiencing homelessness through the difficult and cold winter months.

Since the charity was set up in 2017 by Hootan Ahmadi, it has significantly grown from distributing 30 survival kits to over 350 kits last Christmas. This year, with the support of Dominvs group in Action, that number is set to rise again, allowing the charity to positively impact over 1,000 people across the city.

Each pack contains over 50 individual items, including a sleeping mat, thermal clothing, and other personal hygiene necessities, all contained in a large rucksack. The charity has already raised over £10,000 from individual donations as this Christmas is expected to be one of the harshest in terms of homelessness following a year of rising unemployment and economic hardship.

CarePack UK will distribute the packs across multiple community charities across Greater London, including Christian Kitchen in Walthamstow, White Chapel Mission in Whitechapel, and St James’ Church in Clapham.

The Christmas pledge by Dominvs group tops off a successful charitable year for the Group in which it donated over more than £100,000 and supported 10 individual charities and organisations. For many vulnerable people, 2020 has been particularly difficult, prompting Dominvs group In Action to increase its support to charitable causes, particularly across Greater London.

Over the last 12 months, Dominvs group In Action has supported:

Enactus UK – a national social enterprise and education charity. Dominvs group made a £20,000 donation to launch a new student competition that funded university students across the UK to devise ideas and social enterprises that could potentially reduce waste within the hospitality industry. The most successful, impactful ideas were presented at a special event at the Group’s hotel, the Dixon, in Tower Bridge. Dominvs group, provided a further follow-up £20,000 gift to fund a competition for primary and secondary school students across London – focusing on schools in disadvantaged areas – to come up with new ideas to reduce waste in their local communities. The new scheme is set to reach completion in the new year.

The Dame Maureen Thomas Foundation – Dominvs group made a £85,000 philanthropic gift to sponsor the charity’s 2019 Christmas Ball. The charity has a special focus on supporting young people with disabilities, supporting employability and training programmes, enhancing the experiences of life-limited children in hospice care and supporting sick children in hospital.

Give with Dignity – Dominvs group pledged to purchase 250 food kits donated to 250 low-income families in India over the 2020 Diwali period.

Over the last 12 months, Dominvs group also supported the Serpentine Galleries, Cancer Research, and BURST, a collaborative medical research group to support urological research.

Rani Ahluwalia, Founder of Dominvs group In Action, said:

We are delighted to be working with CarePack UK over this festive season to support and help London’s most vulnerable.

“Winter is undoubtedly the hardest time of the year for those who have found themselves on the street. I know that CarePack’s work has a real, tangible impact for many of London’s homeless. Their work is invaluable, and we are pleased to be able to support it.

“2020 has been an unprecedented year for all, but as a family business, we still hold dear our responsibility to help those charities working tirelessly in our own community and we will continue to do.”

Hootan Ahmadi, Founder of CarePack UK, said: “This year has been a particularly difficult year for everyone, not least the homeless. With the current financial climate, the problem is only going to get worse. This year, we would have found it particularly difficult to fundraise, and having scaled up from 350 to 1000 backpacks, this would have meant covering the shortfall in a substantial amount as we did not want to go back on our pledge.

“Having a company like Dominvs group involved means a great deal. It allows us to provide more bags and reach more people. For every bag Dominvs group donates, they make a direct and immediate difference in someone’s life, so their involvement is hugely appreciated, especially in a year when it is easy and understandable for companies to reduce their involvement in social responsibility.”
