About us.
Our story.
After growing Euro Car Parts into one of the biggest car parts suppliers in Europe and retaining a board position at LKQ, Sukhpal Ahluwalia bought a small motorway service station hotel. Why? Because he wanted to learn the industry, start small and scale up. This was meant to be a side project, which soon turned into ambitions to grow into a nationwide real estate business.
And this is where our story begun.
Over the next two years we bought land across the UK – from Manchester to Scotland. We became experts in the hotel industry, through developing, refurbishing and rebranding our assets.
These small-scale projects helped us realise our potential and became the starting point for our portfolio to date.
We continued to grow our portfolio and increased our presence within the hotel industry whilst also working on small-scale residential projects.
2019 was a significant year for Dominus. We completed Crowne Plaza at Aberdeen Airport, Courtyard by Marriott, Oxford, and The Dixon at Tower Bridge. Through our years of experience, we delivered high-quality exemplar hotels nationally and created a name for ourselves in the industry.
But our story didn’t stop here.
We knew we wanted to create more than just hotels and small-scale residential projects. We wanted to venture out and become a multi-sector business within real estate.
So, in 2021 we started to explore student living and mixed-use schemes … thinking outside the box.
In line with our belief in creating places and spaces for communities and empowering them, in July 2021, we acquired a leading social value consultancy, SeerBridge and appointed the first director of Social Value within the industry.
Fast-forward to now, we’ve scaled and grown into a real estate platform that continuously delivers well-designed projects across sectors, going above and beyond to improve the lives of our communities and ensure all voices are heard, bringing real value to the local area.
To date we have achieved planning consent on the last 20 projects brought forward, including our 61-65 Holborn Viaduct project and 181 Talgarth Road project this year.
We’ve completed on our Lost Property, St Paul’s, a Curio Collection by Hilton, and Hampton by Hilton Bath City. We have also won awards for Gaia’s Garden, our meanwhile use project that we created in 2021.
We aim to continue expanding within the real estate sector, becoming best-in-class and delivering meaningful projects across the UK.
In February 2023, we realigned our brand identity to reflect how far we’ve come and how far we’re going.
At Dominus, it’s time to stand up and be proud of who we are. For years, we’ve been growing in size and stature as one of the UK’s most dynamic family businesses, with interests spanning real estate, hospitality and beyond.
